NavigationContactAndy Pell Phone: 819 Wagon Trail Building Envelope InfiltrationMeasures the tightness of the building envelope. Leakage cannot exceed .5 air changes per hour. Building Pressure DifferentialMeasures the air pressure of an open area inside the building and compare that to the pressure measured outside to see that it does not exceed -3 pascals. |
Third Party Building & HVAC Testing, Air Balancing, Energy AuditingBuilding Performance Testing Co. is committed to providing accurate and timely Building and HVAC commissioning. Building Performance Testing, otherwise known as BPT, has vast experience in this field and has performance tested thousands of buildings. Strand Brothers, our parent company has been performing energy audits and testing building performance since 1978. We are currently working with the 2006 International Energy Code as adopted by the City of Austin and Austin Energy. This code applies to all new single family and multi-family buildings with permits pulled after January 1, 2008. This ordinance also applies to any remodeling addition where 200 square feet or more of air conditioned space has been added. A new home or home addition must have these tests taken and meet the specified criteria to be approved by the City of Austin. We are also very involved with testing Green Building projects. We have been a certified third party tester for the Green Building program since 2001. We are aware that to some builders and contractors this may seem like a hassle. We'll fill you in on the benefits of this city building code and tell how easy it can be to pass every test. • This is just a quality control check to make sure your contractors have done their job properly. (the way it should be done anyway) • This will greatly reduce future problems with the HVAC system, residents' comfort issues, and their utility bills. • This will substantially decrease our energy consumption and help our community take another step in the right direction. • We are happy to work with you and your subs to understand what makes or breaks your home’s performance. • If needed we can make adjustments to the system in order to get the home up to par.

System Static PressureMeasures total airflow of HVAC system and insures proper sizing of ductwork. Room Pressure DifferentialMeasures the pressure difference between each room and an open area adjacent to that room to see that it does not exceed 3 pascals. Air BalancingInsures that airflow per room is within +/- 20% of design and that the pressure difference between rooms and open areas must be less than 3 pascals and pressure difference between open area and the outside must be greater than -3 pascals. Duct System LeakageMeasures ductwork and equipment air tightness. The distribution system leakage must be below 10%. |
